Freeze over – 氷に覆われる
Freeze overは湖や川、池などが寒さで凍ったときに使われる表現です。
During the Canadian winter, the lakes freeze over for three months and we can skate on them.
カナダでは冬の間は、３か月以上湖が凍るので、上でスケートができます。
Do you know that the nearby river has frozen over because of the arctic weather?
厳寒で、近くの川が凍ったって知ってた？
Be snowed in – 雪で覆われる・雪で閉じこめられる
Be snowed inは 雪がかなり降り積もっているときに使われる句動詞です。
Do you remember that heavy snow we had back in February? We were snowed in for three days, unable to go anywhere.
前回の２月に大雪が降ったことを覚えている？ ３日間雪で閉じ込められて、どこにも行けなかったよ。

句動詞ではありませんがbe snowed in と同じ意味で snowbound 「雪に閉じ込められた」という語もよくつかわれています。
We’ve been snowbound for the past couple of days as there is thick snow outside our place. |
Bundle up – 着こむ
Bundle upは身体を温めるために「着こむ」という意味です。
It’s bitter out there today so make sure you bundle up well.
今日は外はすごく寒い。たくさん着こんでください。
句動詞 wrap up 「包む、くるまる」も同じような場面で使われます。
It’s so cold outside, I’ll have to wrap up well for the soccer game tonight.
外はすごく寒いです。今夜のサッカーの試合に向けて厚着しなくてはならない。
Warm up – 暖まる、温かくなる
Warm upは、「暖まる、温かくなる」という意味を持つ句動詞です。
Chris has just arrived and is now by the fire in the living room trying to warm up.
Cuddle up / Snuggle up – 寄り添う
Cuddle up、Snuggle upともに、「寄り添う」という意味で、寒い日に身体を寄せ合って暖かくするというシーンで使われます。
My wife snuggled up to me on the sofa with a nice mulled wine drink as we watched the snow falling outside.
私の妻は外の降る雪を見ながら、暖かいワインを片手に私に寄り添ってきた。
Stay in – 外出しない、家にいる
Stay inは、「（寒いので）外に行かない方がよい」という場面で使われる句動詞です。
I don’t know what you think, but I reckon we should stay in today and keep warm.
あなたはどう思うかわからないけど、家にいて暖かかくしている方がいいと思うよ。
